1858-C $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. Variety 1. The 1858-C quarter eagle is usually available for type purposes, although high-grade examples remain elusive; Mint State pieces are particularly scarce. This near-Mint coin displays the usual strike weakness on the central reverse but is otherwise well-defined. The surfaces have original olive-gold toning, and scattered handling marks are not bothersome. Population: 12 in 58, 27 finer (2/17).
