Proof Liberty Quarter Eagles
1902 $2 1/2 PR64 NGC. The Mint struck 193 quarter eagle proofs in 1902, the same year it implemented a new all-brilliant finish to replace the long-standing contrasted finish it had used for decades. Specimens are very scarce in any grade and appear at auction infrequently. This Choice representative features deep orange-gold coloration and a full impression expected of a proof. The fields are moderately reflective, but contrast is minimal. A few light marks define the grade. Census: 23 in 64, 23 finer (2/17).
