1854 $3 MS64 PCGS. CAC. The highest mintage of the long-running series fools some collectors, who view the 1854 as readily available in all grades, but they soon realize that Choice, high-grade Mint State coins are deceivingly challenging to find. This is one of the "nice" ones -- sharply struck, with few abrasions and copious mint luster. Gleaming yellow-gold surfaces approach the Gem level in both eye appeal and technical quality, suitably CAC-endorsed. PCGS reports just 39 finer examples (2/17).
