Liberty Half Eagles
1908 $5 MS67+ PCGS. CAC. A transitional issue, struck before the Mint made way for the new Indian Head design. Few pieces compare in quality to this Plus-graded Superb Gem, with pristine, frosted surfaces and a razor-sharp strike. A scattering of tiny ticks from the chin to beneath the hair bun is visible with a glass, the only marks to mention anywhere on the coin. Few examples are finer at either service. We have previously handled only six Superb Gem representatives, and never a Plus-graded MS67 coin with CAC approval. This is only the third PCGS-graded Superb Gem that we have offered. Population: 7 in 67 (1 in 67+), 2 finer. CAC: 4 in 67, 2 finer (1/17).
