1864 $20 XF45 PCGS Secure. Scarce in all grades, the 1864 twenties were soon absorbed by trade and commerce without thought of numismatic preservation. Some 42 coins were recovered from the S.S. Republic, which make up the majority of high-grade pieces known today. This Choice XF example is housed in a PCGS Secure holder, with bright, butter-gold surfaces and a scattering of tiny marks. The high points of Liberty's curls show moderate wear. Flashy yellow luster remains around the obverse stars and across the lightly abraded reverse.
