Liberty Double Eagles
1892-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. Variety 1-A. As one of the later Carson City issues that was exported in the foreign trade, the 1892-CC double eagle is more collectible in high grade than its small mintage of 27,265 pieces suggests. Nonetheless, Uncirculated coins are elusive, and those grading finer than MS61 are particularly scarce. This piece displays a sharp strike with vibrant cartwheel luster and frosty fields. Hints of greenish color appear throughout each side. Scattered abrasions determine the grade, although individually significant marks are at a minimum. Quite an appealing 1892-CC twenty for the grade, particularly if an old-time patina is sought.
