High Relief Double Eagles
1907 $20 High Relief, Flat Rim, MS64 PCGS. No American gold type is as internationally celebrated as the High Relief. Only the iron will of President Theodore Roosevelt could have been behind such an impractical issue. But before any bankers could complain that the coins would not stack, speculators removed most of the mintage of 12,367 pieces from commerce. However, most are not as nice as the present near-Gem, which has comprehensive satin luster and an unabraded appearance. The strike is complete and the eye appeal is magnificent. A highlight of nearly any gold type collection.
