Commemorative Silver
1900 $1 Lafayette Dollar MS65 PCGS. DuVall 1-B. This variety is characterized by the left-leaning A in DOLLAR and the position of the leave end between the 1 and the 9 in the date. Funds to erect the statue of the Marquis de Lafayette were raised by the school children of the United States in 1899. After the Second World War the statue was moved from a location near the Tullieries and the Louvre to the Quai de Albert, near the statue of Simon Bolivar. This is an especially lustrous Gem with much lighter centers than the golden-toned margins.
