Early Dollars
1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, 10 Arrows, B-13, BB-108, R.2, AU50 ANACS. Bowers Die State II. A crack travels from the rim to the right side of the L in LIBERTY. This is a somewhat accessible variety among 1798 dollars. Examples are usually seen through EF, but AU representatives like this one are offered on occasion. The stars are boldly raised, and the shield and feathers are equally well-detailed. Attractive lavender-gray patina covers each side, yielding accents of peach-gold over the highest points. Smooth with softness over UNITED. Steely mint luster remains. Housed in a small-sized holder.
