Proof Trade Dollars
1883 T$1 PR63 PCGS. A Select rainbow-toned, proof-only Trade Dollar, one of just 979 pieces struck for collectors as the final "official" Trade dollar issue, although some believe the rare 1884 was a legitimate Mint proof issue as well. The glassy-mirrored surfaces display a sea of iridescent yellow, orange, and blue colors. The neonlike, graduated toning is richest on the upper portion of the obverse, and on the corresponding lower area of the reverse. Overall, the strike is sharp but not quite full on the highest obverse points, with a few light lines and small ticks that are easily overlooked thanks to the remarkable toning.
