1879-S $1 Reverse of 1878, VAM-46, MS64 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. Reverse of 1878. Broken r in Trust (looks like 'Tiust'). A die line from the nose to the lip and two die chips -- one between T and Y of LIBERTY and another at the lower right (facing) wing near the leg confirm the scarce VAM-46 variety. This is a brilliant and frosty near-Gem example with partially prooflike fields and a sharp strike. A faint hint of golden-gray toning joins scattered small marks across the lustrous surfaces.
