1884-S $1 AU58 Prooflike NGC. The 1884-S is known for its formidable rarity in Mint State. Prooflike pieces are even rarer, especially with the lovely peripheral toning of the present Borderline Uncirculated example. Orange-gold, violet-red, and powder-blue patina hugs the borders. Contact is inconsequential aside from a field line near the chin. Encapsulated in a prior generation holder. Census: 19 in 58 Prooflike, 10 finer (2/17).
