Proof Morgan Dollars
1880 $1 PR64 NGC. Riding the coattails of a large Trade dollar proof mintage, the 1880 Morgan dollar proof production of 1,335 pieces was the largest of the entire series. This example is mostly brilliant, with an attractive band of reddish-gold patina that covers the rims and dentils. The motifs are frost-white for strong contrast with the silver-mirrored fields, a characteristic not mentioned on the previous-generation "fatty" NGC holder. This near-Gem proof is only a few delicate field lines away from an even finer grade.
