Proof Morgan Dollars
1886 $1 PR64 NGC. While the 1886 (886 pieces produced) is not one of the rarer proofs in the Morgan dollar series, it is a challenging coin to locate at the finer levels of preservation. The plethora of cleaned or otherwise impaired examples in today's market makes the appearance of a certified near-Gem an important occasion for both the auctioneer and potential bidders. This coin is untoned in the centers with halos of pale golden iridescence around the peripheries. The sharp strike and smooth surfaces are equally free of criticism. Both sides are uniformly brilliant in finish with only a few wispy blemishes.
