Proof Morgan Dollars
1896 $1 PR64 NGC. Produced in lesser quantity than its predecessor, the famous 1895 Morgan proofs, just 762 examples of the 1896 were struck in proof format. This example is snow-white and untoned save for a hint of pale-gold at the rims, with smooth mirrors surrounding frostlike devices. The strike is razor-sharp throughout. A few faint lines across the obverse fields have limited visual effect but account for the near-Gem grade. Census: 58 in 64, 68 finer (2/17).
