So-Called Dollars
1901 $1 Lesher Dollar, First Type, Serial No. 26, HK-787, AU50 PCGS. Joseph Lesher's referendum souvenir dollar prototype, soon replaced with the more familiar design featuring a mining landscape and the Colorado State Seal. Lesher struck only 100 pieces of this first type, each with a different hand-engraved serial number. This example is #26, and displays sea-green toning in protected areas. The open fields are rose-gold. Population: 2 in 50, 7 finer (2/17).
