1871 5C Five Cents, Judd-1050, Pollock-1184, Low R.6, PR66 NGC. The obverse bears a portrait of Liberty similar to that used on the nickel three cent piece. The date is below and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is above the central device. The reverse depicts a reversed Roman numeral five (backward) and the word CENTS is within a wreath. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. These pieces were also struck in copper and aluminum. This is an attractive, thoroughly brilliant example with nicely mirrored fields. The strike details are strong throughout, especially strong for a nickel product.
