Liberty Quarter Eagles
1861 $2 1/2 New Reverse, Type Two, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Two reverse hubs were employed on Liberty quarter eagles struck in the era from 1859 through 1861. These hubs were known as Type One and Type Two, or alternatively, the Old Reverse and the New Reverse. More examples of the New Reverse coins remain extant for all three years. This Plus-graded Choice example exhibits sharply detailed design elements and lightly marked orange and rose-gold surfaces.
