Liberty Quarter Eagles
1902 $2 1/2 MS67 PCGS. The 1902 Liberty Head issue had an original mintage of 133,500 pieces, and in lesser Mint State grades examples are plentiful. Superb Gems are quite scarce, as confirmed by the current offering that is numerically exceeded by just one coin for the finest-certified at PCGS (2/17). This visually impressive quarter eagle is fully struck and displays a rich, frosty sheen over light honey-gold surfaces. A pair of tiny red-orange specks on the obverse are too small to distract the viewer of this exceptional piece -- flawlessly preserved and essentially blemish-free on both sides.
