Struck in the amount of 4,000 circulation strikes, the 1866 three dollar gold issue had a typical production for a series that was basically low-mintage from the early 1860s forward, save for 1874 and 1878. This near-Mint coin boasts still-lustrous wheat-gold surfaces with a light peppering of minor marks and one copper alloy spot near the upper obverse rim. Population: 25 in 58, 46 finer (2/17).
