Liberty Half Eagles
1841-D $5 Tall D -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Variety 5-B. All examples of the 1841-D were struck from the same obverse die, but two reverse varieties are known. The Small D, Variety 5-A, is several times more available than the elusive Tall D, Variety 5-B. The present caramel-gold example has minimal wear, but is slightly bright and exhibits subtle field marks near the forehead and above the wings.
