1854-D $5 Weak D AU55 PCGS. Variety 37-DD. The mintmark was shallowly entered into the die on this variety -- PCGS has certified a minimal number in all grades, but the date in general is scarce above the present AU55 grade level. This piece displays a bold strike and partially lustrous yellow-gold surfaces. The mintmark is faint but fully outlined and easily seen with a loupe. Abrasions are limited.
