Liberty Half Eagles
1879-CC $5 XF45 PCGS. Variety 1-A. This green and reddish-gold Carson City half eagle enjoys strong detail on the curls, stars, and talons despite moderate friction. Luster shines from the peripheral areas. A scattering of small field marks appear over each side, but none of them are of any singular importance. As double eagle and eagle output fell at the Carson City Mint in 1879, half eagle production rose to 17,281 coins. An appealing example in all respects. Population: 21 in 45, 79 finer (2/17).
