Benjamin Harrison's narrow electoral victory over Grover Cleveland allowed the Carson City Mint to resume coinage in 1889, after a four-year hiatus. The 1889-CC double eagle has a low mintage of 30,945 pieces, and is scarcer than most later CC-mint issues. This canary-gold example shows light wear on the cheek and several faint vertical marks on the right obverse.
