BRUTTIUM, Rhegion. Circa 450-445 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 17.26 g, 7h). Head of lion facing / Iokastos (or Aristaios?) seated left, drapery around waist, holding scepter in right hand, left hand placed on left hip; RECI-NOS flanking; all within laurel wreath. Herzfelder 1 (D1/R1); Randazzo 9 (this coin); HN Italy 2477; BMC 8; Jameson 452; Winterthur 525 = Hermitage Sale II 202 (all from the same dies). VF, toned, a few die breaks, some roughness. Rare first issue of facing lion coinage at Rhegion.
