Gallienus (253-268). AE 27 mm. Uncertain mint (Rome?). Obv. GALLIENVS [AVG]. Radiate head right. Rev. AET[....]. Female (?) figure standing left, holding uncertain object and cornucopiae (?). In field, Γ- uncertain letter. RIC-. cf. C. 41 (Fr. 8). Cf. CNG 281, lot 414 and note. AE. g. 7.48 RR. A very rare and enigmatic type. Reddish brown patina with green hues. VF/F. The weight and fabric of this enigmatic coin is that of an as, and the radiate head marks it as double. But pobably it is not a middle bronze denomination but rather some form of trial strike for an AE Antoninianus.
