Aurelian (270-275). AE Double Aurelianianus (?), Mediolanum-Ticinum mint (?). Obv. AVRELIANVS AVG. Radiate and cuirassed bust right. Rev. ORIENS AVG. Sol standing facing, head left, raising right hand and holding globe; at foot left, captive; in exergue, Q. Cf. RIC 134 and C. 140. AE. g. 7.28 mm. 23.00 RRR. Extremely rare. Brown patina. Gently smoothed and light traces of tooling on reverse, otherwise good VF/VF. An enigmatic and extremely interesting coin of exceptional weight: Double Aurelianianus ? A trial strike?.
