The Fatimids took control of Egypt from the Ikhshidids in 358h (an example of this first year is included in the collection), and held it for more than two centuries until the dynasty at last fell to Saladin and the Ayyubids. The collection offered here includes several dinars of al-Mu'izz which bear the name of the month as well as the year of issue, good runs of dates for al-'Aziz and al-Hakim, and several rare dates for al-Zahir. Individual highlights include the rare dinar of Misr 386h struck in the first year of al-Hakim's reign, the al-Iskandariya 487h dinar issued in the final year of al-Mustansir's long rule, and the two coins of al-Musta'li.
