THRACE, Hadrianopolis. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Pentassarion (26mm, 9.81 g, 6h). Labor of Hercules type. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Hercules, wearing lion skin, standing facing, head right, holding club and drawing Cerberus by leash from Hades. Voegtli type 10; Stoll, Herakles –; Youroukova, Hadrianople 640 (V270/R614); Varbanov 4010 (same dies as illustration). Near VF, green patina, roughness on obverse, flan split.
