St. John's, NF- Newfoundland Government Cash Note 40¢ 1902 Ch. # NF-2b. These notes were used by the Government of Newfoundland for public and marine works projects as well as welfare payments. The "black and white" notes of the 1901-1909 period are much rarer than their multi-colored counterparts of 1910-1914 and are seldom encountered. This bright, well margined, and only lightly folded PMG Choice Very Fine 35 example is one of only a half dozen pieces for this year in private hands, according to the Charlton reference. Some splits are mentioned for accuracy. From The St. John's Collection of Newfoundland Banknotes HID08701242017
