Japan Foreign Trade Payment Certificate 10¢ ND (1947-50) Schwan-Boling 1002. Only the second FTPC and the first fractional piece to grace our auctions. This example grades Choice Crisp Uncirculated. These were issued in booklets and therefore the perforated top and bottom edges. FTPCs were issued to foreigners who entered Japan during the Allied occupation. They could exchange dollars for FTPCs and yen upon arrival, but only the FTPCs could be exchanged back into dollars when departing. FTPCs were phased out on July 1, 1950.
