1787/1788 CONNCT Connecticut Copper, Mailed Bust Left, VF25 PCGS. M. 9-R, W-2860, High R.4. A very scarce Guide Book variety. It has been suggested that the reverse die was backdated from 1788 to 1787 to circumvent the ban on state coinage by a newly ratified U.S. Constitution. A pleasing medium brown representative despite a few faded hair-thin obverse marks near the nose. Both sides are moderately off-center, but in different directions. Listed on page 63 of the 2017 Guide Book.
