1787 NJERSY New Jersey Copper, No Sprig Above Plow, MS63 Brown PCGS. Maris 46-e, W-5250, R.1 Ex: Troy Wiseman Collection. Struck from an advanced state of the dies as evidenced by the lack of detail on the inner curve of the horse's neck and the pronounced bulging of the die in the date area (which still shows full digits). The center of the reverse is weak, from die damage rather than wear, as always. Remarkably well-centered, this piece shows full sawtooth denticles on both sides. Brown patina is glossy with minor planchet porosity. Heavily die clashed with strong evidence of the outline of the shield in the right obverse field. A 1% curved clip at 5:30 is mint-made. One of the finest certified Maris-46e examples. Listed on page 72 of the 2017 Guide Book.
