1783 SHILNG Chalmers Shilling, Long Worm VF30 PCGS. CAC. Breen-1012, W-1790, R.4. The fence is between the N in ONE and the I in SHILLING. The Chalmers coinage was widely accepted in Maryland, explaining the prevalence of circulated examples. This denomination was produced in the largest quantities and are seen more often than the threepence or sixpence coins. This attractive antique-gray example is nicely centered with bold dentilation. Definition is especially strong on the obverse, where all elements are complete despite obvious signs of use. This original VF30 representative should draw considerable interest. Listed on page 53 of the 2017 Guide Book. Population: 8 in 30, 27 finer. CAC: 2 in 30, 7 finer (3/17).
