1839 1C Silly Head, N-4, R.1, MS65 Brown PCGS. This variety shows the so-called Silly Head portrait with beaded hair cords, curls around the shoulder, and the T in LIBERTY touching the hair. Glossy, dark brown and steel-blue surfaces exhibit pinpoint detail on the portrait and the central reverse, although definition softens around the margins. Beautifully preserved with a single tick left of star 13. Our EAC grade MS60. Population: 16 in 65 Brown, 5 finer (3/17).
