Early Half Dimes
1795 H10C V-5, LM-8, R.3 -- Planchet Flaw -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. PCGS calls attention to unusually deep planchet adjustment marks on each side of this LM-8 representative, which are mainly present on the central devices. These are mint-made and quite normal on early United States silver coins (though seldom seen this deep), and there is nothing else technically wrong with this coin. It is well-struck and displays original olive-gray patina that deepens toward the rims. Little evidence of wear is present. The heavy die crack at the Y in LIBERTY extends across Liberty's cheek and neck all the way to the rim below the 7 in the date. The coin is problem-free with regards to post-minting impairments; only the prominent adjustment marks interrupt the surfaces. It is an interesting piece to study.
