Proof Twenty Cent Pieces
1878 20C PR64 PCGS. BF-1, R.3. One set of dies was used to strike 600 twenty cent proofs for collectors in 1878. The denomination was abolished for commercial circulation in 1876, but two proof-only issues were produced in 1877 and 1878. This Choice proof offers mixed lavender-rose, blue, and green patina, delivering pleasing aesthetic quality to each side. Strike detail is razor-sharp as expected, but not always as found. Seldom seen finer.
