Seated Quarters
1868 25C MS64 PCGS. CAC. Briggs 1-A. Larry Briggs wrote in the Coin Dealer Newsletter in 2008: "Scarce in all grades and again (sorry) rarity once more escalates in grade. Usually seen is AG-VF; XF's scarce; AU's very scarce and Mint State coins are rare." Indeed, attractive Uncirculated examples like this rarely come up for sale. Specialists should take advantage of this delicately toned Choice quarter with lavender-gray and tan-gold hues. Strike detail is a touch soft, but the overt originality more than compensates. From a small production of 29,400 coins. Population: 17 in 64, 7 finer. CAC: 1 in 64, 4 finer (3/17).
