Seated Quarters
1873 25C Closed 3 XF45 PCGS. The 1873 Closed 3 quarter had a mintage of 40,000 coins. Briggs wrote in 1991 that this date was "much harder to find than its mintage would indicate due to many pieces being melted at the Mint. Mostly seen in lower grades, with Business Strike pieces in XF or better being quite rare." Pale lilac-gray surfaces show a thin scrape in the field above Liberty's head. The motifs are clear, if incomplete, and a small toning spot occurs on the right talon. Population: 7 in 45, 12 finer (3/17).
