Bust Half Dollars
1812/1 50C Small 8, O-102, R.2, AU58 PCGS. CAC. The overdate feature is visible but blurred due to die fatigue. Die erosion blurs the dentils around both peripheries and softens some of the details on the central devices. O-102 is the only variety with a Small 8 in the date, making it necessary for a Guide Book variety set. This example is just as lustrous as many Uncirculated coins, and only a hint of high-point friction is discernible with a loupe. Traces of lavender toning accent otherwise champagne surfaces, and there are no distracting abrasions. PCGS lists only 24 finer examples (3/17).
