Numismatic tradition has it that this obverse die is overdated, with a 1 strongly visible under the final 2, although some modern scholars believe that mere die chips inside the bottom portion of that digit resemble a figure 1. This piece has frosty mint luster and attractive gold toning with faintly reflective fields. Population: 2 in 63, 3 finer (3/17).
