Seated Half Dollars
1861-O 50C WB-101, Die Pair 8, R.2, AU53 PCGS. Brilliant and untoned with bright surfaces, this silver-white example was struck under the authority of the State of Louisiana shortly before the Confederacy took control of the New Orleans Mint. The reverse die is notable for its use striking the final 1861-O half dollars under U.S. (Union) control, the final half dollars under Louisiana control, and the first half dollars under Confederate auspices. Only light abrasions mark this historically interesting About Uncirculated half dollar.
