Seated Half Dollars
1876-CC 50C Medium CC, WB-102, Die Pair 42, R.7, MS60 PCGS. A rare R.7 variety, struck from a die marriage unknown to Bill Bugert at the time of his 2010 register of Carson City Seated half varieties. Discovered by Mike Clark of Bozarth Coins, the new die marriage combines a previously known reverse with a new obverse die. Scattered die lumps on Liberty's head, neck, and gown include large, diagnostic lumps on the midsection and at the right obverse shield edge to define the obverse die. The reverse displays a widely spaced Medium CC mintmark. A few light, grade-consistent marks include a faint vertical abrasion that runs from the hairline to the neckline. This sharp and lustrous Mint State example is attractively toned in golden-tan shades with bluish overtones. Housed in a green label holder.
