Barber Half Dollars
1895-S 50C MS65 PCGS. This may well have been one of the first half dollars off the press at the San Francisco Mint in 1895. The strike is fully defined on the stars, curls, talons, fletchings, and shield corner -- the areas that usually appear incomplete. Variegated toning is a shade lighter on the obverse compared to the reverse, while frosty luster shines from underneath the patina on each side. The cheek and fields are surprisingly clean even for this high grade. A major rarity so fine. Population: 10 in 65, 6 finer (3/17).
