Early Dollars
1795 $1 Draped Bust, Centered, B-15, BB-52, R.2 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. XF. Bowers Die State IV. The Draped Bust dollars with the Small Eagle reverse were struck from late 1795 until early 1798. Two varieties in 1795 had the bust centered or uncentered. This example of the former displays surface roughness and cleaning lines on both sides that are beginning to hide under naturally renewed pewter-gray and steel patina toning. A curious bit of extra metal exists over the top of B in LIBERTY.
