Early Dollars
1797 $1 10x6 Stars, Large Letters, B-3, BB-71, R.2, VF20 PCGS. Bowers Die State III. Incompleteness on the hair curl under B in LIBERTY and on several of the palm leaf edges indicate the relapped die stage. This is a smoothly worn, warm-gray example with blue overtones and a few scattered, light abrasions. Some of the reverse dentils blend with the rims, but nice definition remains on the eagle's wings and head. The BB-71 was logically struck in 1797, before the decision to switch to a 13-Star obverse. It is the only Draped Bust dollar variety with the 10x6 star arrangement.
