1803 $1 Large 3, B-6, BB-255, R.2, VF30 PCGS. Bowers Die State I. The Large 3 in the date shows minor repunching and the reverse is rotated counterclockwise. This is a richly toned example, with intermingled shades of gunmetal-blue, sea-green, and amber-gold that blanket both sides of the coin. The motifs are well-defined for the assigned grade. Some patchy, deep-umber toning on Liberty's face is noted, but it is an adjunct to the robust patina that dominates the problem-free surfaces.
