Seated Dollars
1871 $1 MS64 NGC. OC-10, R.2. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/b. The 1871 Seated dollar production was one of the few truly high-mintage issues in the series at 1.07 million pieces, and only it and the 1872, at 1.1 million coins, exceeded the million-coin mark. Most examples of the 1871 nonetheless circulated extensively. This is an untoned example with smooth fields, good luster, and moderate contact near Liberty's legs. Census: 43 in 64 (4 in 64+), 6 finer (3/17).
Ex: Northern Lights Collection (Heritage, 4/2014), lot 4570, which realized $4,993.75.
