Trade Dollars
1878-CC T$1 XF40 PCGS. Treasury Secretary Sherman abolished the Trade dollar denomination for circulation in early 1878, but not before the Carson City Mint accomplished a mintage of 97,000 coins. This is one of only two regular issues for the year, the other being the more available 1878-S. Stone-gray motifs exhibit light friction, while deeper steel-gray fields are minimally abraded. A pleasing example of this exceedingly scarce key date.
