Proof Trade Dollars
1879 T$1 PR66 Cameo NGC. Housed in an older NGC slab and designated a Cameo, this Premium Gem 1879 proof Trade dollar is indeed dramatically contrasted. The fields exhibit incredible depth of mirroring, and the frosty devices are cast in delicate champagne hues. This piece was struck from an early state of the dies, with faint remnants of lathe lines evident in the central obverse field. The sharpness of the strike is far beyond what is seen on some proof Trade dollars of this period. Census: 22 in 66 Cameo (1 in 66+, 3 in 66 ★), 28 finer (3/17).
